I just realized that the priest this whole time has went as far as a ceremony to keep Eugene by his side and fulfill his abusive and sick desires that Caleb or whatever the name of the guy he’s cheating with’s name is, can’t fulfill. Of course the binding ceremony wouldn’t have succeeded. The priest never even loved him he just liked the obsession Eugene developed out of survival. He doesnt love anybody. Poor Eugene is a victim of stockholm syndrome and grooming. He believes he is in love but he’s not. Rooting for him to be with blondie and live a normal life.
