Dude I love your perspective on this!! In my opinion, I think Dohyuk is using the mc as a form of escapism. From the latest chapters, inside the art room he was quiet and violent, perhaps he doesn't like the life he's living. But while being Dohyuk, he has a happy lover and is a caring individual. When he's playing the role, he gets to forget who he is and focuses on loving (if he even does love him) Hwanyoung

I, stupidly, hadn't thought about the mental gratification that came with running away from who you really are, and, just, living the caring, charming, life with the person you've always wanted to have, or have dreamt of having? Now, Dohyuk's anger of being pulled out of the roleplay, and being faced with "reality," makes so much more sense to me. I had previously been confused to how he saw hwanyoung and how he knows hwanyoung isn't, really, hwanyoung. But now, even though he knows hwanyoung, the author, is faking, even being immersed in the roleplay is gratifying in and of itself, so thanks for replying, you've now made my experience reading the comic make more sense lololololol

This is one of my theories, I think the creator of this series thought of this idea but realized it only worked if dohyuk looked like the dohyuk in the manhwa so they just... slid that in there
When I had read the earlier chapters, I originally thought that maybe Hwanyoung had amnesia and is writing the story out, not realizing that something like that already happened? Though, considering later chapters, I don't think this is true
I just hope the actual explanation isn't some, like, well... Hwanyoung writing the story exactly how his life is going right now... erm, just a coincidence!

What you said does make sense but I used my phone to use the QR code showcased at the end of the chapters to access the manhwa, and I happened to see some of the covers of the later chapters, haha I did try to cover my eyes as quick as possible, but I saw child Dohyuk (most likely a flashback), and he looked pretty similar ╮(￣▽￣)╭
though it would have been pretty funny if he dyed his hair black from brown and his roots started showing pffft
I, incoherently, nonsensically, blab which may be really embarrassing when the story finishes:
hmmm... I am struggling to understand Dohyuk... at first, I thought he was some delusional, smart/psycho ML who was obsessed with hwanyoung, believing that the mc IS wholeheartedly, hwanyoung over some, still, untold backstory... but after some earlier chapters and the current latest chapter, like 26 or 27, I am confused by his, like, "role?" or beliefs?
He knows its all fake, but he still cherishes hwanyoung despite knowing that hwanyoung is just the author pretending, he said in some earlier chapter how the redhead "let go of something so valuable..." he treats "hwanyoung" as something soo precious, so how does he stand with the author? Is it because he looks like the webtoons hwanyoung/ is the author of the webtoon who happens to look like hwanyoung? if he can acknowledge that they are just one person, someone who is just acting out of survival, does he value only the "idea" of hwanyoung, that somebody can mirror hwanyoung? or does he think that the author IS hwanyoung, in some way, (which we've already established that the doesn't think that based on him saying, like, "we've got roles to play, don't cross the line" or something like that..) or that only the author could be hwanyoung because of his appearance, or something, having potential to be hwanyoung? he clearly likes it when the author pretends he is hwanyoung, and gets all wrapped in it, but he still knows its fake...
I want to see a chapter completely from Dohyuk's POV to understand him, because I am so confused... at first, I got him, I could easily rationalize that he couldn't differentiate from reality and yada yada, but now, it has been repeatedly implied that he can, and that he knows??? Σ( ￣□￣||)
I'm just confused as to why he thinks that the red head losing the author is throwing something so valuable away after establishing that he knows the difference and acknowledges that its allllll fake... like... what do you mean? value as in, potential? appearance? personality?
why does he look so similar to the author's ver. of dohyuk in the comic the author is drawing? Like, the black hair, dimples, eyes, height, etc... for a moment I was wondering if everything was just hwanyoung's imagination lololololol
also, he wants the author to finish the story between him and the comic's hwanyoung, I think it might of been said that he'd let him go if he finished the ending? maybe? I don't remember,
still, is his only motive, the ending of the comic? if so, he has no reason to try to gaslight or manipulate, or whatever, the author into liking him and wanting him, if his only end goal is the ending he wants, which he can easily get with some beatings and coercion (I know he said he wants the best ending between him and hwanyoung, like some kind of happy real ending or something that makes sense), is he being so nice to the author so the author can get a feel for what the ending is supposed to look like? like, just showing the author how they can reach that "happy ending?"
unless, he also wants to reach the comic ending and have it intertwine with the real ending that he wants with the author (acting as hwanyoung) and him?
