They did. In the earlier chapters. It wouldn't take off. Bada said it was probably because the game intended it to be that way. My theory is that there's a certain scenario/event that could enable them to take it off. Just like the key, it wasn't in the killer's pockets until it resets

I hope it's a hottie if the mask really did come off one day. lol
