Throughout the years I think I’ve read 2-3 other manga and seen another 1-2 anime with this similar trope of a foreigner kissing someone on the lips and other Japanese people saying, “yeah it’s normal greeting for foreigners” hahahaha. I wonder which unfortunate person got assaulted by a white guy, got told that excuse, and everyone just nodded in agreement like “ah makes sense” lmao

I keep thinking that no way they still believe these stupid stereotypes but apparently they do, but honestly it's possible they know but just don't care just in order for some of that tongue action. In Argentina we do it on a daily basis in contexts like school, work, family. Even with people you've never met if they're introduced to you.
Except for children and elderly people we don't know, basically everyone's greeting is a kiss on the cheek.
That's fair. I certainly know of a lot of countries where this is common, but it's still a stereotype. We definitely don't in India for one, and I'm pretty sure they don't in the UK either, especially to strangers or at the workplace. This character is British, ergo, author is wrong

But even beyond that, not the author thinking that anyone (British or otherwise) would kiss their coworkers (especially in the office & during their first week) on the cheeks as a greeting! That's so awkward!
