Well if you are okay with it,then yes.
But if you feel need some time to sort your feelings then do that instead.
I reckon staying friends would be ideal after such subtle rejection, if they aren't too interested romantically but rather more so platonically you can't exactly do much. However, just wait with time or find someone who you also find interest in. It's a good thing that he didn't take it the wrong way for starters and kudos to you for expressing your feelings and seeking for a solution. You don't have to take this messages word for it though it's just an option.
