Amazing story, loved the western history lessons here and there

Bruh I thought it was going for the faking one's death route but she deadass admitted she was gay inside of a church in the early 20th century, gotta take my hat off to that.
And it seems that punishment was not extended to lesbians, the anti-gay laws were targeted towards homosexual males (maybe because they thought sapphics weren't real), so besides the "bringing shame to the family" thing, she wouldn't be arrested or anything of the sorts. So, it's not that much of an unrealistic ending if we consider that the backlash from society knowing of her homosexuality would be probably lose her title and be exiled in some way. So homegirl decided to run away since she would be forced to leave her home and town anyways. Well, in real life I hardly believe one would have the guts to do that, most people would opt for simply running away, which would pretty much confirm any rumors of the sorts.
