It's more unrealistic for them to act like an adult. Physically, the brain is undeveloped at that age, regardless of reincarnation or not. So if we're talking about anatomically, it makes more sense for FLs to regress mentally rather than for them to be a super smart baby because they physically don't have the facilities and capacity for that. Same thing happens when people regardless of age and wisdom have brain damage or deterioration. Just my opinion as a neurobio major ╮(￣▽￣)╭
I'm a law major so can't really argue lol. It's just that they have their memories from their past lives and in some cases they had a job which they were good at, they often speak about it as a baby when they thinking of the book and it's ending. I just feel like since they remember, why can't they just use those memories and experiences contained in them? I get it though, it would seem suspicious if they suddenly acted out or acted differently to their age.
