Yes I agree. This is normal in Asian households, to make sure no kids are spoiled in our household and grows up humble and family oriented basically. I have never lashed out at any relatives I disliked when I was a kid, and if I did, my parents would do much worse than MC did.

This is probably not normal in other places but for us it is normal. My parents wouldn’t ever run after me so I always end up coming back home or staying over at a relative’s home for the night.

No problem. Asian families discipline their kids very well (harsh discipline/of course not in general, there are Asians who discipline with affection), you don’t see Asians everyday just lashing out at others, I’ve been taught to not let my emotions get the best of me and always keep my head up around strangers, be aware as well.
