There was this manga of a girl. She had glasses and black hair. She is portrayed as "plain" because of her appearance, but she doesn't care, since she likes being in the shadows and listen to gossip and the like. She is a writer I think...

It was a romance between this girl and a commander (? (he was a knight/duke or smth) and I think he also had glasses . He was kinda cold and was deemed more handsome (also cos of his power and cos I think he was close to other high ranking people).

Don't think it was isekai, but it was a "western historical" manga. Don't think it had magic or anything, just romance.
