I mean, he’s probably the one who told the fl about the story, and he’s been shown to care for her. Im guessing Elizabeth was suffering in their future so he tried changing the past a bit to help out the current Elizabeth, although he might not realized he’s pressuring her into a magician… But at least it’s giving her confidence on her magic, and the ml might be the same age as her currently, so that’s a win——
