I say ff topic because though all these elements are around ( the rivals, flings, etc) it won't work. The girly boy has seen the other boy with others and didn't find the slightest twinge, only annoyance.

I'm sorry to the fans but.... I think that all the people in the story are idiots. Mainly the couple itself. It just feels all silly... And to me the only good thing (and annoying thing) is the dark haired guy's insistence. If I were that person, I would not provoke that guy, but if I really saw that I had zero chance ( and really, he only had a slight chance until it was rewarded in the end) I would give up... A bit off topic but The main question to be asked to dense people and people who have flings and whatnot ( not these characters) is, "Can you honestly accept it if the person you like ( or The name of the person who likes the dense one) is happily with somebody else?" This is why rivals, though cliche, are very much welcomed in stories. They spark the story's intensity until they become too annoying or something. It hurts to know you van be easily replaced, but sometimes that's what the person needs to see in order to realize thag they have to value the other person.
