Plus Kou pre-regret looks like a different person once Shinobu forgave him so that was definitely pre-forgiveness Kou.
Honestly, i would've been ok with the ending even though he didn't suffer enough and we didn't really see his regret that much and the redemptions arc was literally just him being sick , but i was ok with that cuz shinobu be fallin' and i can't pin the against him...
