I don't understand why the dad would even adopt the guy? Lets throw this weird plot twist in order for them to be together 24/7 to make them fall in love ?

Its a bit more common in Japan for adults to be adopted for business reasons

Especially in the corporate world because it's important for business/company owners for theim to choose an heir that could continue the family name (despite not being blood related)
