The reason being is the fact that they used corsets for “looking slim” instead of using them as bras, I mean they’re supposed to support you not make you slimmer, the ladies were using corsets like people nowadays, to look slim, seriously corsets are just bras but with the waist included, they’re supposed to be custom made to fit you
