To break it off, he made it too cruel. I cannot imagine what it must have felt for her.... to be pregnant, and to be told he had a girlfriend. That would break any girl's spirit. But I undestand why he did what he did. Make her hate him so much , and in time, she might be able to move on. It wasn't the right way, but still understandable. He was facing death. He thought it would be easier for her to lose him with a break-up than to lose him by his death.
