I see a lot of comments chastising the FL, but I can see why she didn’t try to justify herself. From the moment Rico saw that man hovering over Stacia, he didn’t believe/trust her. Rico made it so there was no room to spare for “excuses”. Many times, dealing with a person like that you aren’t given any choice, but to leave. It’s also difficult when Rico hadn’t opened up at all to Stacia. How could she have known about his poverty and hunger stricken childhood? Woth such great struggle and strong passion to protect one’s family, it seems only natural to believe in your family’s opinions too. However, Rico isn’t the only one at fault either. Yes, Stacia should have been more proactive in trying to get her perspective and desires across to Rico. Having and maintaining honest communication is a key component for healthy relationships. Anyways, blah blah blah~ this is a Harlequin story so I’m sure many details were edited out to keep with the deadline and page limit.
