I guess to me this story was a little flat, and a bit "cliche yaoi". You have the young simping "uke" and the more powerful, straight "seme". The relationship always came off a bit one sided. Such a let down, in comparison to the author's historic works. Saying that, the best thing about "Yuki to Matsu" was the ending, where you had a big time skip showing the characters older and how Japan had developed. Rarely do you see characters in their older years in yaoi, it's just "happy ever after" when they confess as if that's it all wrapped up.
