The novel is really messy so I kinda dropped it but hopefully the manwha isn’t messy and all over the place.
Think of it like a genetic disorder. Where the child has a 1 in 4 chance of getting it (I.E. Inheriting it), but if you don’t get it you still carry the recessive gene to pass it on. The disease/curse appears during childhood so if you make it into adulthood your safe
In other words the royal family cursed to carry the recessive gene, but not everyone in the family will get it. So he could just as easily have another kid and they grow up fine, but then their kid could have it
