If I remember correctly he caused the rumbling to make the eldians or paradise devils look like the heroes once they killed eren so Marley won't kill them off and he also did it to cut off Marley army so they won't rage war again for some time since they don't have many people to recruit
But at the end It says “fight fight fight” and there are obvious militant powers at play on both sides. The only people making peace are Erin’s old squad lol idk. I just felt like this trope wasn’t well flushed out here
Yeah it looked like Marley was going to declare war against the eldians my thoughts is that eren knew he wasn't going to make peace so he opted for freedom [what he wanted] to make eldia its own independent country and so he's leaving the rest to armin [to make peace with Marley], who knows maybe isayama will make a sequel to what happened (sorry if it doesn't make much sense) but I honestly thought it was a good ending as we see eren achieve what he wanted and it gives isayama a choice to leave the series like that or make a sequel
