About halfway through Vol 1 of the novel, he finds her through their dreams while she's in town without the kids. He asks her where the kids are and she said that there are no kids. His only response is basically a smirk and saying, whatever, we can make more. Later on, after some events where the kids end up in the ML's care without the FL, and the ML admits that he's in love FL but doesn't have any particular attachment to the kids.

I understand her for why she wants to distance herself but I feel like the emperor truly loves her and the kids.Also she didn't tell the emperor she was pregnant so in a sense was he not respecting her boundaries and waited until she decided to run away.Yoi could see the love and vulnerable side of him in the dreams of her and the kids
