Lol that’s the thing, for the price of someone’s life he gained something. But he also said it in one of the chapters that some people didn’t really help those who are in need so since he gained the power, he won’t do anything for others without a price. And it’s interesting cause he has a point. I love this manga but I want to see him grow too.
To be honest I recommend that you read the novel so, some things in the manga adaptation are not the same, I think you can better understand their thoughts in the novel, here the story will be badly made. Incidentally I also read "The First Order", it has the same vibe and is by the same author, it is novel, they have not yet made the adaptation for manga.

I’m kinda disappointed on how he takes things like a joke when everyone is relying on him to lead since he is more experienced than them (not that they know but they’re no more experienced in those kind of situations). But when he’s supposed to be serious, he is but no one’s gonna take him seriously now. So he somewhat has no right to say “serves u right u didn’t listen to me” but I guess he’s a smart asshole sometimes. Still, he experienced harsh things so I’m still waiting for him to mature.
