Yeahhh, it sounds mad bc its his stepmother but I think its coz theyre closer to age and that he never accepted her as a stepmother and as he got older, he just developed feelings he didnt realize until she died tbh. He was pushing more on doing things for her to make her happy and make up for all the shit they did to her

And oh, if you go back to the previous chapters, the knight found them when he wanted to apologize to her but someone found them straight after so he came and then became a suspect for her death
