Basically what happens is, the new king makes it legal for spinel and pel to love each other. Dev finds out that his dad was a pel and was working with Rowells parents to free spinels (which was illegal at the time) leading to Rowells parents getting killed. Rowell and Dev fall more in love and have lots of seggsy lol
That old duke guy reveals he’s been in love with his spinel the whole time and his wife finally accepts it and moves on (they live happily every after blah blah)
The new king falls in love with that servant boy that was Devs friend from his home village. (The servants gets like sorta tipsy and sleeps with the new king then they fall in love but he doesn’t want to admit it so the new king like courts him and trails him around like a lovesick puppy)
