this. this is such a bad representation for the lgbtq in japan and the fact that this was made into a tv series is a big yikes. It might give str8 bigoted viewers there confirmation that gay people are nothing but predatory, despicable, miserable and horny incestous beings.

like i know the weird shit in the manga happens in japan maybe too often, hell it happens anywhere else in the world but adapting something from that fucked up culture is not a great first step in making a "woke" series and message which this manga tries so hard to provide.

also if you loved this, youre probably straight, privileged with an open minded environment, or both so if u got something to comment back at me to defend this vile garbage, save it. there's something wrong with you so worry about that instead

I mean the LGBT community isn't all sugary in real life but neither is the straight one. I think this manga is pretty realistic, and harsh. Not sugary.

i mean yeah exactly as i said it happens everywhere too not just japan. im gay and i've seen or even experienced some of the things that happened in the manga

but the thing is this manga struggles to find it's identity and is not self aware. there's some sort of romanticization here and there to appeal to younger readers, i guess. I've read multiple stories way worse and also realistic than this but they know their place and are self aware. this however seems like 90% torture porn and most of it are unnecessary or dont have the message to help it

also i might've just been carried away due to the fact that out of all the amazing queer and also realistic content japan has, this was the one that was adapted to a series lol so that might be it (=・ω・=)

I agree with that some of your points. I think the original novel is much better than the manga (many people have been claiming that it was lost in translation). Unfortunately it hasn't really been translated yet so I can't say for sure.

no i absolutely understand when niamura (whatever her name was) got up on the stage and started talking ab how she wasn’t afraid to admit she liked homos???

that was some real bullshit and you could definitely tell a straight person wrote that lmao, like the way it’s catered to hetero’s and the pedophilia and incest really dampen a story that could’ve been amazing

regardless i am crying because i can relate to jun’s feelings of not wanting to burden others and then accepting me for who i am that’s why this story moved me even a little
